"Seaway Bolt and Specials Corporation, a leading global manufacturer of cold-formed fittings for virtually every market, including industrial, automotive, oil and gas, hydraulic and pneumatic, is well on its way to becoming one of the largest manufacturers of large-diameter advanced cold-form parts in the United States. The company, headquartered in Columbia Station, Ohio, recently completed phase one of its growth plan, and in its current phase two, has continued to invest to further its capabilities and add more capacity in advanced cold forming. The investment involved rebuilding and commissioning its second National 1500 large diameter parts forming machine. “Somebody had asked me this morning if I was really excited, I said ‘No, I’m not sure that’s the word that I would use–grateful. One of the great things about all these guys is they brought teams of people with them–great people–all of that helped make this all possible. I’m very proud of the group of people.’” Seaway is a second-generation, family-owned business. Originally established in 1957, the company’s historic primary focus has been on cold-forming and thread-rolling tapered, threaded pipe plugs. In 2019, Seaway announced and began an $18,000,000 investment in a company expansion that included the commissioning of four parts formers to support the advanced cold-forming product lines. This is a continuation of that promise to add up to 35 new jobs over a five-year period, and support the ongoing business growth. “This second machine will not only add additional capacity for our large diameter products, but it also gives us capabilities that no cold forming companies in North America have,” said Ray Gurnick, President and Owner of Seaway. The phase-two investments include a business expansion to the existing manufacturing facility as well as six large-diameter parts formers, including this second National 1500. “The first 1500 that was available on the market, because, you know, it’s the only one, and other people were looking at it. And our guys were saying, ‘Ray, if you don’t buy that 1500, you will never have another opportunity.’ We now have four of them. I think what we’ve assembled here gives us an incredibly bright, bright future.”
